How many John Wayne quotes did everyone see? We saw three definates (by camp site, digger bucket at Bala and telegraph pole on Westward route beyond the inflatable cowboy), plus a fourth guess (blur seen in corner of eye) on Eastwards route. We didn't put coordinates for the Bala one because we didn't have a map - or so we thought (should have used Navigator grids). We were beginning to think they were a myth...

We got three, one at sweet lamb centre in the marshals car, the one on the lamp post you got and there was also one on a traffic cone at Bala, but we forgot to hand the sheet in so no points

I can't help feeling there's a high degree of alchemy in the scoring (and don't some people take it so seriously?? 8) )

Dunno about that one mate, you dont half fall fast when you do fall

TBH I cant understand why people do take the actual event so seriously and competitively. As Blondies said, its all about fun, having a laugh and enjoying the experience. We had no memory map in Ireland and Ben navigated old style with no way to pinpoint our location other than terrain and hardly went wrong but we probably missed loads of clues cos we were too busy laughing, taking in the scenery or talking about Landys

It was hilarious watching those higher up the tree parting like the red arrows in different directions and then watching them coming back around again in the opposite direction still looking for answers which they obviously eventually got through shear determination. Good job it wasnt based on mileage

Main thing is the cash thats raised for the cause and imho thats all that matters :D

I believe NO-ONE handed in the first days, it was abandoned, we tried to hand ours in and the official said it was going to be point scored no matter what due to time scale of getting to the ferry.

We handed all of ours in Si, the sheet before the forest and the sheet after and they adjusted our finish time on the first sheet due to waiting so long....................which was nice :D

What was a bugger tho was the marshalls at the end of the forest scatter (Stage 2) had walked up the hill collecting the sheets and telling us stage 3 was called off and to go straight to Holyhead and as we handed the sheets over and started to drive down the hill there was a blummin letter board

All lessons learned for next year eh? 8)

Ooops

I have to agree with the Blondish Scotchish one tho that it is primarily a navigation excercise with off road bits thrown in and all those who were moaning last weekend should remember that. That said, were'nt some of those ahem "tarmac" roads better than some green lanes we have over here 8)
